National Taipei University of Technology

Institute of Environmental Engineering and Management (IEEM)

Institute Objectives

1.     Education on environmental engineering and management that leads to bring up students to be outstanding high-tech engineers.

2.     Research on innovative environmental technologies to solve global environmental problems, and to meet the criteria of environmental sustainability.

3.     Development on systematic management including practical auto monitoring and computerized planning that promote graduated studentˇ¦s knowledge for the environmental benefit of current and future generations.

Features

Striving and realization are the essential education characteristics of the Institute of Environmental Engineering and Management (IEEM). Based on engineering background, the IEEM offers a series of education programs, including:

(1) pollution prevention and reduction.

(2) Resources recycling and industrial ecology, and

(3) systematic management on civil and environmental.

Associated with the general courses of civil and environmental engineering, some special topics are also provided, such as environmental geographic system, computerized planning, sustainable development indicators (SDI), and system of integrated environmental management.

The vision of the IEEM is of a life-suitable environment. Thereby, what the available courses are expectable to fulfill the requirements of environmental sustainability .All the courses programs arranged by the IEEM can promote a graduated studentˇ¦s knowledge for research and coming job.

Our Mission is to:

l        Provide education, discover new applied knowledge, and serve the stakeholders

l        Provide students with the fundamental knowledge, intellectual skills, and practical experience to become leaders in engineering

l        Perform significant research

l        Provide practicing engineers with up-to-date graduate study

l        Provide technical services.

The Traditional Values of Education/Industry, Theory/Practice, Knowledge/Experience represent the foundation supporting the IEEM 's entire pedagogy and co-op structure.

We emphasize the primacy of "Traditional Values" while embellishing them with "Contemporary Values" of Leadership/Teamwork, and Creativity/Productivity. By definition, these "Contemporary Values" are more sensitive to contingent circumstances in the technology marketplace, such as the current needs of engineering employers and research institutions.

We believed that it was the application of theory in practice which was most critical to the advancement of learning. The "Leadership/Teamwork" couple exemplifies the need for engineers in today's global competition to work together on large projects, sharing expertise and experience. The "Creativity/Productivity" couple is actually an extension of the leadership dynamic.

We provide opportunities for students to work together on realistic problems so that they are accomplished collaborators and effective leaders. Part of leadership involves thinking 'outside the box.'  Thus creativity leads to productivity - now recognized as the keystone in advancing our standard of living.
